Courtney Fraser Psychotherapy

Hi there.
I'm Courtney (she/her). I'm a licensed professional counselor, clinical sexologist, and an AASECT certified sex therapist. I enjoy collaborating with my clients and have a direct communication approach. My clients have told me they appreciate this style and my ability to relate with non-judgmental empathy. My first goal in working with a new client or relationship is to understand their experience and concerns. From there, we collaboratively determine how I can best assist them in the therapy process. I pride myself on my ability to meet people where they are at, build a supportive relationship, and help people work towards their goals.
I've been practicing for over 15 years, and during this time my specialty areas have evolved to include the areas, and many overlaps, of anxiety, trauma, sexuality and sexual issues, and neurodivergence (like autism, ADHD, and sensory processing concerns). My therapeutic approach is integrative, with a client-centered lens. I employ a combination of cognitive-behavioral therapies, psychosexual education, Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, attachment theory, and other strategies and modalities that best fit each client or relationship. I also have training multiple couples modalities, including Imago, Gottman, and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).

I work with folx from all backgrounds, including those in the LGBTQIA+ community as well as heterosexual clients. I provide therapy to couples, relationships, and individuals who identify as monogamous or ethically or consensually non-monogamous, and I’m a BDSM- and kink-affirming clinician.
My Story
My therapeutic roots are in community-based mental health settings where I worked with families, children, and teens doing in-home and school-based therapy. These experiences were foundational as I learned to see every individual through a systemic lens, understanding that each of us are part of a multitude of broader systems that influence who we are and how we show up. After being in private practice for a number of years, I became frustrated that my earlier education and training didn't offer much in the way of sex, sexuality, and sexual health. So I decided to complete a PhD in Clinical Sexology from Modern Sex Therapy Institutes where I finished my AASECT coursework. There I created a comprehensive curriculum for pelvic floor physical therapists for my doctoral project, as I found their discipline also didn't offer them much in the ways of early education and training in sexuality and mental health. I've developed a love for supervision, mentorship, and teaching over the years, and enjoy working with clinicians and other professionals at all phases of their careers. These combined experiences influence the holistic approach I bring to the work I do.
